Michigan Square Garden
I don't know anyone that actually witnessed it, but apparently Dion Harris hit a fadeaway 3-pointer to beat Notre Dame in double-overtime. Big Blue is now just one away from the Big Apple. We're about to make the Republican National Convention protests look like New Year's. A couple observations:
- As J. Brady noted - oh, that crazy NIT Committee (whoever the hell they are). They must have had a lot of fun with these brackets and having us replay our nonconference schedule. Nothing like beating Notre Dame and Miami twice in the same season.
- Gotta love picturing Michigan lay it all on the line for the NIT after sleep-walking through the Big Ten Tournament. It's as if the NIT just brings out the best in us - that through the NIT we found out there was just a little more in the tank than any of us thought.
- It's pretty funny how Amaker and Mike Brey, both under the Coach K Tree, just stroked each other in the postgame.
On the game:
Amaker: "I know this was an incredible basketball game; a double overtime game, kids making big-time plays on both ends of the floor, a wonderful crowd, an enthusiastic atmosphere this evening - we couldn't have asked for more."
Brey: ""As far as the game is concerned, that is about as good as it gets."
On each other:
Amaker: "Well, we know their staff, we have empathy for what they're going through, what they've gone through all season, but we also have felt that, you know what, we haven't had a lot of luck either."
And for the biggest laugher of them all.....
Brey: "In my opinion, I think Michigan is an NCAA tournament team."
"A festivus!!!.... For the rest-of-us!!!"
